Pilot Media has new website to show off full range of offerings | Media

When people hear the name The Virginian-Pilot, it’s the print newspaper founded 152 years ago that most likely comes to mind first.

And while print journalism remains a vital part of what the company does, Pilot Media launched a new website to showcase the other services it has to offer – PilotMediaSolutions.com.

“We’ve been a little shy promoting ourselves,” said Nicole Newsome, digital marketing specialist. “People know they can put an ad in the paper or online, but what they don’t know is that we do a lot of digital solutions. We’re not losing sight of print; we’re just making sure they know we’re a full media company.”

The responsive website – meaning its layout works on different devices from tiny phones to large desktop monitors – is meant to be contemporary and relevant. It was launched Aug. 1.

“We’re looking forward to seeing it grow and adding case studies and testimonials,” Newsome said.

Pull-down menus show the digital services offered including strategy development, content marketing, social media, search engine marketing, e-mail marketing, web development and video production.

Businesses can market themselves in a variety of mediums, including digital, mass or niche print, magazines and special sections. The company’s creative team offers help with branding, graphic design, logo design and print advertising.

One section of the site is dedicated to the research done by the Pilot’s research unit, CraniumTap. Included are custom, quantitative and qualitative studies about brand segmentation and methods to help companies understand their customers.

Direct links to social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and You Tube – are an active part of the site as well.

A downloadable flyer lists consumer, military, business and recruitment events. There’s also a blog by content marketing specialist Shannon Bowman with thought-provoking content.

“People thrive on learning more about digital,” Newsome said. “Everyone on the Pilot Media team wants to educate our clients.”

The company is also sponsoring a contest to drive traffic to the new site. Download a paper airplane with the accompanying instructions, take a photo of the plane in use and post it to social media for a chance at a $500 Amazon gift card. Entries should be tagged pilotmediasolutions. The contest ends Aug. 14.
