While it may not compare with the size and scale of Facebook, Pinterest is steadily growing its user base, and is becoming a much bigger consideration for marketers, particularly those in the B2C sector.
The platform reached 175 million users back in April, and now, Pinterest has announced that their community has expanded to 200 million MAU – up 40% year-over-year.
To mark their latest milestone, Pinterest has released a new infographic which outlines some key usage stats and audience figures. In addition, Pinterest has also highlighted some topic areas that have seen significant growth, including:
- Food: We’ve seen a 46% year-over-year increase in people saving food-related Pins to Pinterest, the largest mobile destination for food.
- Financial services: There’s been an 85% increase in financial services-related Pins saved since the beginning of the year.
- Auto: People have saved nearly 46% more auto-related Pins in just the last five months. More than 25 auto brands are already active on Pinterest.
Interesting to see the ‘financial services’ and ‘auto’ sectors growing, demonstrating the platform’s expanding use case, while Pinterest also notes that they’ve seen a 50% increase in male users of late – though female users still dominate their audience more than 2 to 1.
