Pope Francis prepared to hear 1.4 million confessions on his trip to Ireland from “yes” voters to the abortion referendum is satirical news. It is true that Ireland voted to repeal a restrictive abortion ban, dealing a blow to the Roman Catholic Church. However, there is no truth to a report that the pope is set to hear the confessions of those individuals who voted in favor of repealing the abortion law.

The Waterford Whispers New published the satirical news on May 31, 2018, reporting that Pope Francis would listen to the confessions of Irish citizens for their vote to repeal an abortion law that went against the Roman Catholic Church’s teachings. AHEAD of his costly taxpayer funded trip to Ireland in August, for which the Vatican will contribute no money towards despite having billions in assets and cash reserves, Pope Francis has echoed the sentiments of Bishop Kevin Doran by stating he will personally hear the confessions of all 1.4 million ‘Yes’ voters in the referendum on the 8th amendment.
The demonic, sinful and murderous Catholics who voted ‘Yes’ will be given the opportunity to beg for forgiveness from Francis when he touches down in Phoenix Park, with a series of drive-thru style confession booths to be installed in the park ahead of his great big mass.
“Pope Francis is looking forward to saving all you heathens from eternal damnation, even those who deny they’re even Catholic, your souls are eroding further for every minute you deny your corruption,” added aide to the Pope and all around laugh-fest Fr. Giorgio Armani.
However, there is above story is satire. Of course, there is no legitimate news coverage of such a statement being made by the Catholic Church. Pope Francis is indeed visiting Ireland but the story is playing off the recent historic vote on abortion in Ireland. Currently, BBC reported that abortion is only allowed when a woman’s life is at risk, but not in cases of rape, incest or fatal fetal abnormality. The Eighth Amendment, which grants an equal right to life to the mother and unborn, will be replaced.

Pope Francis has granted a “plenary indulgence” for participants attending the World Meeting of Families in August 2018. In Catholic doctrine an indulgence frees one from being punished for their previously committed sins or it can be passed on to dead relatives to shorten their time in purgatory.
