Samuel L. Jackson will be running your smart home setup soon: Amazon recently announced that the movie star is lending his memorable voice to Alexa devices.
The e-commerce giant announced the exciting update at an event on Wednesday, USA today reported. Jackson will be the virtual assistant’s first celebrity voice and the best part is that you can opt for a “cursing” option on your Alexa-run gadgets.
The voice, which was created with neural text-to-speech technology, will be available in two versions for Alexa electronics: A clean version and explicit version that will launch later this year. This Alexa “skill” won’t be free though, you’ll have to shell out 99 cents for an introductory offer, then pay $4.99 after the promo period ends, says the feature’s page on Amazon.com.
According to Amazon, Jackson will announce the weather forecast, sing happy birthday, tell jokes, set alarms, and play your favorite beats. Curious about the Oscar-nominated actor’s career? Just ask Alexa for more info.
Even though Jackson won’t be able to help with shopping, lists, or reminders, he could be a fun tech addition to your home.
All you have to do is say, “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson,” to get started.
