Scorpion, the Santa Clarita-based internet marketing firm, officially opened its new 100,000-square-foot headquarters today.
More than 400 employees will start work next week in the building, on Entertainment Drive overlooking Magic Mountain Parkway at Interstate 5, next to Sunkist’s headquarters.
“This is a very exciting time for us,” said Scorpion CEO Rustin Kretz. “Our high-tech, custom-designed building provides us with the space we need to accommodate our rapid growth, and it also reflects our employee-focused company culture. The new building gives our employees a workplace that spurs their creativity while rewarding them for the hard work they do for our clients day in and day out.”
Scorpion, founded in 2001, provides website design, search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, video advertising, online reputation management, and social media services. Its clients include legal, healthcare, franchise, and home service companies.
The new building includes a restaurant-style cafeteria, full-service coffee shop, indoor and outdoor dining areas, an indoor sports court, a fitness center, employee game lounge and a video wall in the lobby.
An open-office floor plan includes height-adjustable workstations, 18 meeting rooms, including 6 rooms with two-way video conference capabilities. The building is eligible for CALGreen certification for energy efficiency and sustainability, and the company plans to add solar panels in the parking lot and electric vehicle charging stations.
The building “was designed with its employees in mind, providing them with the amenities and resources they need to work efficiently and be as productive as possible,” said Jeff Wirt, president of Wirt Design Group, the commercial interior design firm that worked on the building. “The open workspace allows for direct access and communication between teams and groups that may have previously had only chance encounters, or had to schedule meeting rooms just to be in the same space.”
