Seo Kang Joon Explains Why He Chose To Appear In Upcoming Thriller Drama “Watcher”

Seo Kang Joon shared his thoughts on starring in his first-ever thriller.

On July 2, the actor joined his co-stars Han Suk Kyu, Kim Hyun Joo, Heo Sung Tae, Park Joo Hee, and producing director Ahn Gil Ho at a press conference for the upcoming OCN series.

Watcher” is about police officer Do Chi Kwang (played by Han Suk Kyu) who witnesses corruption, police officer Kim Young Goon (played by Seo Kang Hoon) who witnesses a murder, and lawyer Han Tae Joo (played by Kim Hyun Joo) who witnesses a lie. After forming an anti-corruption team, they work together to expose corruption and hidden evils in the system.

“I’ve appeared in many sweet romantic comedies and melodramas, but this is a genre I’ve wanted to try for a while,” began Seo Kang Joon. “I also want to become an actor who doesn’t discriminate against genres, so I chose this [drama].”

He continued, “While reading, I was drawn to the charms of the script because it wasn’t just focused on the investigation due to the genre. It also told the story of people through each character’s pain, growth, and healing.”

He added, “There are quite a lot of action scenes. Since I’m portraying a passionate police officer, I run around a lot and there are many action scenes. This is the first time I’ve filmed rough action scenes like this. It was fun. I’m enjoying filming while monitoring to see how it comes out.”

“Watcher” premieres on July 6 at 10:20 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki! Check out the latest trailer below:
