With the launch of the Realme 5 Pro and Realme X, the Realme 3 Pro has lost its moment in the limelight. Self cannibalisation of sales is a problem that phone manufacturers like Xiaomi have been facing for a while now in the budget segment, and it seems like Realme has finally started experiencing some of the drama for themselves. Too many phones in the budget segment are similarly spec’d hardware wise but offer some sort of different eye-catching features to drive sales.
Sure, sales are quite heavy when the phone launches amongst hype, but eventually within a few phones when a similar phone launches its popularity dies down. Months. That’s all it takes to phase out a phone’s popularity. The Realme 3 Pro is a solid phone that has fallen victim to this vicious cycle. Yet, we’re here to tell you some of the reasons why you should invest in this phone albeit its rapidly failing allure.
The Processor
The 3 Pro uses the aging but relevant Snapdragon 710. It’s still a powerful processor that can hold its own and hasn’t been upgraded in the budget space just yet (the Snapdragon 712 is just a slightly higher clocked version). With graphics performance that’s still better than what the Redmi Note 7 Pro has to offer, the 3 Pro is still very much relevant performance wise.
The Cameras
Sure, we’ve had 48 MP sensors launch on budget phones since the Realme 3 Pro came out. But do they really offer much over the already solid IMX 519 on the 3 Pro? Hell no! Slap on a Pixel Camera port for the 3 Pro and you have solid camera performance for ages; on par with even the Realme X.
The Build
It’s plastic. Obviously. But does it look dated? Not really. The design on the Realme 3 Pro still looks quite fresh with the gradient back. The plastic on the Realme 3 Pro is more durable than the glass on the Redmi, any day. If a solid plastic build that looks quite eye catching is your thing, don’t think beyond the 3 Pro!
The Price
This is what makes the Realme 3 Pro tick all the right boxes on just one mention. The price. For a meagre starting price of just 12,999 INR this Realme undercuts almost all of its significant competition in spite of competing in an inferior budget spade. It’s a heavyweight boxer in sheep’s clothing through and through. This is precisely why the 3 Pro is still a very relevant phone in today’s market, even when facing competition from its own siblings; the 5 and the 5 Pro. Buy the 3 Pro with your eyes closed!
