County MPC approves huge solar project despite objections from Cassils area residents The county’s municipal planning commission Thursday approved a development permit for a 160-acre solar panel project despite the objections of several residents of Cassils.
The approval clears the way for the 22.5 megawatt project proposed by WSP Canada Inc–Solar Krafte Utilities. The project includes 225,420 solar panels installed on the quarter-section that parallels Range Road 15-4. It’s anticipated the project will begin some time next year.
Solar Krafte president Mark Burgert and Jeff Thachuk outlined why the project should be approved.
Team effort leads Roadrunners to convincing win Brooks Roadrunners picked up their first win of the Bantam Rangeland Football Conference season in impressive fashion Friday.
The Roadrunners came away with a lopsided home victory over the Maple Creek Redmen. Maple Creek is new to the league this year.
The victory was in front of a large home crowd. Credit for the fan support was given by head coach Mark Freeman to the school student council who promoted the game.
New assistant superintendent has a wealth of experience Rhae-Ann Holoien brings a wealth of administrative experience to her new position as assistant superintendent for Grasslands Public Schools.
Born and raised in the Regina area, Holoien comes to the division from Edmonton where she worked with Alberta Education in the student learning standards department.
Education was something she aspired to from her days in high school. After completing grade 12, she attended Northern Montana State College on a volleyball scholarship.
