The End of a Blog? Not Quite – But All Change at DannyBrown.me

I’ve been writing on this blog since the end of September 2008. That’s just over 10 years here, give or take a month or two.

In that time, I’ve published almost 1,400 posts, originally starting out writing about marketing, PR, social media, and all the other stuff that came with it at that time.

But I got bored with that, and started writing more personal stuff – questioning life, our place in the world, and what it meant to be a good person.

It made me rediscover my love for blogging, as I was feeling burnt out with all the social media and marketing stuff.

Burnout is a war that must be won on two fronts.

Over the course of the last 2-3 years, that personal approach has seen my content creation drop off, from almost daily posts to 2-3 times per week, to what it is now – infrequent.

And that’s fine, because that’s what growth and evolution is all about.

But over the holidays, I realized I want to be even more personal, and engage with you on a true, one-to-one basis. Which brings me to the changes coming.

A Community of One

This will be the last blog post published on here. Instead, I’m moving to a weekly newsletter – but with a difference.

Instead of the usual newsletters that have 5-6 different things in them, then some sort of offer, etc, this will be a very intimate newsletter.

Taking my inspiration from Paul Jarvis, each week I’ll send out an email that shares my thoughts on everything from life, people, family, and more.

Because I’m switching to the TinyLetter platform, it’ll be a very simple email – nothing flash.

However, if you want to share your take on that week’s email you can just hit reply like you would to a normal email, and that’ll hit my Inbox, from where we’ll continue the conversation.

It’s essentially a community of one, but where you offer your intimate take on a much bigger discussion.

I’m toying with the idea of a private community (free, no sales pitches, etc) where we can expand even more on these emails – but that’s for a future date, if at all.

As for my podcast, I’m really going to be jumping into that in a big way this year (with a focus on interviews) and I’ll share more soon on that.

It’s Not So Long, But Thanks for All the Fish Anyway

For those of you kind souls that have been with me on this blogging journey so far, I thank you and hope you’ll remain.

I’ve moved your subscription over from this blog to TinyLetter. On Sunday, I’ll send a quick email from there reminding you of the move:

  • If you wish to remain subscribed, you don’t need to do anything – you’ll start receiving my newsletter proper the following Sunday
  • If you no longer wish to receive emails from me, no worries – simply click the Unsubscribe link at the end of this Sunday’s email

It’s been a fun ride so far. I’m looking forward to the next chapter, and I’d love to have you along for the ride too.
