Everyone uses email. It’s a fact of life that offers, specials, important announcements, invitations and special messages all arrive daily in our inbox. That makes email one of the most accessible places to reach customers.

Email marketing is a blend of art and science. You need the technical know-how to make the system work the way you want it to. If you are thinking about email marketing, spend some time preparing. This can be a big, profitable move for your business. But like all good business strategies, should be approached with measured steps and a clear head.

Growing your list is not simply about numbers… it’s about adding value to what you do. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | Google Plus

Growing your list is not simply about numbers… it’s about adding value to what you do. In order to ensure that happens, the following are important parts of the process…

  1. Permission is a privilege, not a right – Consumers do not owe us their attention, and they certainly do not owe us their permission. We need to EARN their permission, and that’s not done by a gimmick or a flashy set of ads. Permission is earned through quality content and offers, genuine interest in and deep understanding of consumer preferences/needs, and a consistent track record that builds trust. Keep the trust, keep the permission and keep the follower.
  2. Relevance is king – We all hear daily that content is king – so let’s take that one level further and point out that it’s not just the volume or brilliance of content that matters to your followers, it is how that content relates to them. If content is not relevant to them, it is nothing more than a waste of your time and a reason for the follower/consumer to take away permission for ongoing interaction with you.
  3. It’s all about relationships – People must come first – in your growth strategies, in your marketing plans, and in every interaction that you have. When you place highest priority on people, you take the time to do all those hugely important things that build relationships:

You operate from a mindset of SERVICE

You think about what you can GIVE TO your followers, rather than take from them.

You ask them questions, listen to and clarify their answers, and get to know their pain points and what delights them.

You base your innovations on what they actually need and want.

And the result? You get and keep your permission to continue and build a relationship with them. In other words, permission is your ROR, #RonR (Return on Relationship).

As you head into the second half of 2018, remember that Permission is a two-way street, and the traffic signals are controlled by your followers. Be their Green Light… not their stop sign!

I use a few diffetent tools to run my email marketing for my blogs and business.

The top 3 are:

  1. OptimizePress – I use OptimizePress to easily create landing pages, webinar pages, ebook opt in pages.
  2. Aweber – AWeber is my email client I have used for well over 10 years. I like how easy it is to setup lists, create single emails and follow up autoresponders.
  3. Convertful – I use Convertful to make all my opt in boxes. I like that I can make a simple change and have it go live in real time, plus you have full design abilities letting you create the look and feel you want.

Choosing an email solution is a major decision. If you need to keep the price down and aren’t ready for a marketing system yet, you can use @Mailchimp. If you know you eventually want to use a marketing system, look at @GetResponse @HubSpot @Infusionsoft and @Zoho Campaigns. While it is best to choose the email solution you want to use long-term, it is more important to just get started. #smallbiz –  Tweet this

Email marketing tools – Why you need to get one chosen and start using it right away!

Small businesses should make a list of what they need or research potential solutions. G2Crowd offers reviews of individual email marketing solutions plus many comparisons. Use them to compare the pros and cons of various solutions.

For #smallbiz, a good transition is GetResponse email to GetResponse marketing system starting at $49/month because it can automatically segment lists and allow you to build workflows for lead scoring.

If you’re ready for an integrated, powerful marketing system, consider HubSpot or Infusionsoft. There will be a major learning curve, so plan to dedicate a significant amount of someone’s time to set it up, learn it, and teach the rest of your team.

Email solutions often integrate with marketing and also with a CRM. Although you can source these separately, if you’re serious about lead generation, you will need all three to talk to each other. You also need to have sales actively follow-up on leads you generate and not rely on just email and autoresponders.

When you know you are ready for an integration of email, marketing, and CRM, another solution to consider is Zoho Campaigns or their entire Zoho One suite of 40+ apps including email at less than $35/month per team member.

Be aware that all email marketing solutions and most CRMs charge on a sliding scale based on the number of subscribers. Include increasing costs due to growth in your budget.

In terms of growing my email list, my favourite tool is Optinmonster. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Google Plus | LinkedIn

In terms of growing my email list, my favourite tool is Optinmonster – it’s not just a pop-up or opt-in form tool, it’s a really powerful lead generation tool. For one, it’s very easy to use (which is so important when you need to create lots of forms and you want to be as effective as possible) and it has a plethora of beautiful templates that you can use it for your pop-ups, opt-in forms, and content downloads. Beyond that, it has several lead generation features like behavioural targeting, geo-location targeting, exit-intent technology, and a plethora of other features.

As for the actual email marketing, my favourite tool right now is ConvertKit, which is an email marketing tool for bloggers that aims to help you get more readers and happy subscribers. That’s what first attracted me to it – but I stuck around because it’s very straightforward and quick to use and it has all the main features I need from an email marketing tool: creating broadcasts, marketing automation, analytics, and other useful automation features.

First of all I think it’s important to point out that whatever you may have heard, email marketing is not dead. In fact it’s a thriving integral part of making money online.

Not too long ago I did a full review of the best email marketing software available. The clear winners (and my personal favorites) were Drip and Aweber

Why?….They were easy to use, allowed you to create more effective email marketing processes and had the best prices.

If you are looking for the more cost effective out of the two the take a look at Aweber.

Its very beginner friendly, easy to understand and has plenty customization options. So if you are just about to start a blog or new to the blogging world then I would recommend starting out with Aweber.

Drip on the other hand is a little pricier but with that you get a higher level of customization and more control.

You can capture emails from anywhere across your blog, the level of data is much better and you can use the workflows to fill any gaps. Definitely worth paying the extra cash.

I actually use Drip to power my blog and since migrating over, my life has become a lot easier.

Too many email marketing tools, and too much automation, kills the marketer’s ability to directly sense the pulse of target audiences. So, use auto-responding judiciously – if you must use it at all! –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Google Plus | LinkedIn

My USP is that of an authority in content-marketing for solopreneurs.

I use email marketing in a very simple way: I predominantly use Gravity Forms on my site to capture emails using good lead magnets – with integration to Mailchimp, as my emailing service provider.

Inside Mailchimp, I have two lists created – one for my community of customers, and one for my subscribers.

Now, within the list of subscribers I have three different target segment: aspirants (these are people wishing to become solopreneurs), amateurs (these are people starting a solopreneur business) and achievers (there are people with ongoing solopreneur businesses).

The idea is that since these three segments constitute my target audiences, I can write common emails to them as well as separate emails to each segment if I wish.

Beyond the first automated email that is a “welcome email” to each subscriber, I absolutely don’t believe in auto-responders (as I feel people are too used to seeing these and feel these are aimed at pushing them to buy something). Instead, I am extremely regular in sending these four types of emails:

Smart  strategies, tactics, techniques, tips and tricks to take solopreneur businesses towards greater wealth. (Week 1 of every month)

Hot-off-the-press excerpts of the all latest articles on my blog as and when they are published. (Week 2 of every month)

Round ups of great posts by other people I have read on the Net on interesting topics. (Week 3 of every month)

Exclusive recommendations for books, tools, templates, and other resources to help content-marketing solopreneurs. (Week 4 of every month)

I don’t email more frequently than once a week, but I make sure there are at least five or six interesting topics to read more about, so each weekly email is “meaty”. The email topics are chosen to match the needs of my target audience segments. So every week my workload would include four separate emails to create: one for my “customers”, one for “aspirant subscribers”, one for “amateur subscribers” and one for “achiever subscribers”.

One important FREE incentive I offer subscribers and customers is the ability to ask “Burning Questions” on content marketing topics that vex them – and when I publish in-depth and practical answers to these, I alert all my community that an answer to one of their questions is published. This tactic not only engages my subscribers and makes them feel privileged to have this free service, but also keeps me aware of the kind of concerns my target audience has and what their pain points are. People who read these answer articles are also encouraged to sign upas subscribers to avail this free service of getting questions answered.

As you can see I do not believe in Email Marketing tools more, and instead rely more on smart segmentation of audiences and customized emails to them via simple inexpensive tools.

I also feel that if too much automation of emailing is used, we may lose a feel of the audience pulse. If things happen too automatically, we will gradually lose that ability to communicate directly and use intuition to judge the changing and evolving needs of audiences.

So I prefer email being my area of direct personal contact to know my customers better and stay apace with them. I also make sure to offer really valuable information in my emails to target audiences – and I track how they are being received and read.

While every email also contains a line to check out my consultation services and my membership site, there is no overt pushing or sales. I try to remember that I have to help more than sell. The stark truth of online marketing: the less you try to sell, the more customers you get!

  3. Zurb tool – For testing the subject line before sending
  4. Jetpack WordPress plugin – For daily automated blog newsletter
  5. Hemingway editor – For email content editing.

Bonus: Do use Emojis in your headline to improve your open rate.

For email marketing, nothing beats ConvertKit easy-to-use and intuitive features. When using cold emails, Buzzsumo + FindThatLead + Lemlist = SUCCESS! –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Pinterest

Being successful at email marketing requires you to understand how to build a list and engage with them to increase your conversion rate. Tools can only help you so much in that regard. While they make your job easier as far as collecting emails, developing your automation workflows, and sending out your campaigns, the tools require the user to know how to use them properly.

Therefore, you need email marketing tools that help set up the foundation on how you plan to approach reaching out to subscribers. It starts and ends with your email marketing platform of choice. In my opinion, ConvertKit is the best tool out there for a blogger and freelancer like me. It is extremely easy to use, lets you create beautiful forms with the ability to add content upgrades, and an intuitive automation workflow builder that even beginners can get into from the start.

While blogger outreach is not necessarily part of the email marketing bubble, it nonetheless allows you to develop relationships with influencers and your audience through creative cold emails. For this purpose, I use a variety of tools:

  1. Buzzsumo – allows me to find people who shared the most popular posts about a topic on Twitter
  2. FindThatLead – extract the emails of the Twitter user so I can send them an email
  3. Lemlist – send drip cold emails to people asking them to share my post or build relationships with them. The ability to use custom images with their names on it is a nice touch.

Using these tools allow me to get the most out of my blog posts by getting them to download my content upgrade and become part of my email list (ConvertKit) and engage with influencers with the awesome content I’ve written (the combination of the three tools).

Email Marketing works best when everything from landing page, auto-responders, email newsletter etc. are configured properly. –  Tweet this

Here’s some of my favorite email marketing tools:

  1. MailerLite – From the interface to the 30% on average open rates (surely more factors are involved in this …) to the seamless integration with website – Mailerlite has worked out really well for me.
  2. SendGrid – The free version of on-site MailChimp emails, also known as transactional emails – Mandrill, has worked pretty well over the years. When it went paid, I shifted to SendGrid and it seems to be working all right.
  3. OptinMonster – For collecting emails from my websites and blogs – OptinMonster is a great option. There are quite a few alternatives but I really like this one.
  4. For everything else – Gmail!

Email Marketing can only work well if your email newsletters and auto-responders are good, else it will fail. Getting subscribers are easy, all you need is a landing page and simply throw targeted traffic to it via. social and PPC ads. Surely, from contests to converting content – catching leads is very easy, the difficult part is to keep your subscribers intact with high quality emails.

What’s the point of having an audience if you can’t reach them properly when you have something to share with them? –  Tweet this

  1. MailerLite / GetResponse / AWeber – These are the three email services we personally use for sending out newsletters or any promotional business emails to our audience. I don’t really want to rank them like 1, 2, and 3. They have their own perfect features. Earlier I just started to sign up for all their affiliate programs and promoted them one by one, but over a period, when I began to use them, I was able to push them in a much better way, because I understood their key points.
  2. G Suite – This is not just a service which provides you custom [email protected] email address, we recently tested their SMTP for our emails, and they worked well, though they have some limits. I personally love Gmail, so this is where I always keep all our custom email addresses which belong to our blogs and business. They got plenty of extensions that’ll be helpful for your emails.
  3. Thrive Leads – I was skeptical about using them, but what’s the point of having an audience if you can’t reach them properly? So, we decided to experiment with this to build a profitable and comfortable email list. They might be expensive or unnecessary at the moment, but if you have a budget to allocate for Email Marketing, then this is something you should consider.

I personally use MailChimp as my email marketing platform. I don’t use any other tools. The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes MailChimp emails end up in the Spam folder or under the Promotion tab in Gmail. However, I have also found that if you use an email in the FROM field that is NOT a Gmail email address, you will have more luck actually making it into someone’s inbox! So I use my website’s email address instead of my favorite Gmail one. (I like Gmail because of its many features.)

My favorite email marketing tool is my email service provider, AWeber.

I’ve used others but AWeber is by far my recommendation if you need a helpful email marketing tool.

Here is why:

  1. AWeber lets me share my posts about how to make money blogging and in other ways online. MailChimp doesn’t.
  2. AWeber draws from my RSS feed. Therefore, I don’t have to send out newsletters. AWeber send them out for me each time I publish and my list members receive my posts.
  3. The support staffs at AWeber are helpful and I didn’t find that at the other services I used.
  4. AWeber has no hidden fees (that I’ve encountered yet) but other services I used did.

Email marketing is easy when you’re using amazing email marketing tools like Drip and Crazy Egg. Both are worth every single penny and give you powerful marketing features to take your email marketing to the next level. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Google Plus

Here Are Some of My Favorite Email Marketing Tools:

Drip – So far over the years, I’ve used almost all the email marketing tools including MailChimp, GetResponse, ConvertKit, AWeber and so on but none of them truly satisfied me except Drip.

I’ve been using Drip for almost 1 year now and extremely satisfied with its email marketing automation tools.

Although Drip is bit expensive when compared to most of the standard email marketing tools such as AWeber, GetResponse etc but its email automation feature is what rocks where you can easily send intelligent campaigns using email, Facebook etc that adapt to your audience interests and behavior.

Drip also provides you powerful tracking data with full customer timelines for each person that interacts with your emails so you can easily find out what’s working well for you and what’s not.

All in all, email marketing gets easier when you have access to the right tools like Drip.

Crazy Egg – Apart from Drip, I also use and highly recommend Crazy Egg which is a powerful heatmap tool that gives you beautifully colored heat maps.

These heat maps (with bright red hotspots) gives you knowledge about where most of your website’s visitors are clicking so you get a better understanding about how to improve your website conversions and email opt-in rates by knowing your website audience in a better way.

Explode your email list by giving your readers exactly what they want… and then some. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Google Plus | LinkedIn

The title of your blog post tells you exactly what your readers want to know about.

Your post should give them exactly that.

That’s how you build a loyal readership and blog following.

Now, to build your email list, just promise them more of the same.

So if your blog post is titled “10 SEO tactics to boost your page rank,” then you might promise people a resource list of your “my 5 favorite tools for implementing the most important SEO strategies.”

Your offer can be as simple as a link within your blog post.

The link goes to a squeeze page where people can sign up to your email list in order to get your cheat sheet.

I use a landing page builder tool called Convertri to create most of my squeeze pages.

It’s easy and intuitive, plus has many really cool templates that help me build squeeze pages fast, with no coding or design skills.

There are many other tools for building squeeze pages, and I’ve tried many of them.

But I find Convertri to be the fastest and easiest.

Whatever tool you choose, having a good and reliable landing page tool is critical to exploding your email list.

PRO TIP: Don’t just create one squeeze page with one offer and think it’s done. Create multiple offers attached to a range of keywords in your niche.  Grab a squeeze page specific to each offer, and grab subscribers from different areas of the spectrum.  You can see how important it is to use a tool like Convertri, so that putting up landing pages is not a big chore.

My favourite email marketing tools:

  1. Thrive Leads – to me, there’s nothing better at building your list than this amazing WordPress plugin. Offers all the forms you need, from lightboxes (pop ups) to widgets, gives you advanced features like the exit-intent, and even provides you with a/b testing and detailed reporting. And it integrates with all the popular email marketing solutions.

Meaning, you use the drag and drop editor to build your optin forms. This plugin also comes with Thrive Landing Pages, which is/was a standalone plugin. 3. Mailchimp – this is like the easiest to use out of all the email marketing services. You can create lists, send emails, and everything else for free, basically. Mailchimp offers a free plan for up to 2000 subscribers. I also like ConvertKit.

My favourite drip feed email tool is Sendloop, as it allows you to funnel contacts into very specific lists. Some of our customers have very different services/products, so it’s really important that we can divvy up the lists based on the products or services that they are interested in. It also allows you to track their movements on your site to further tailor your messaging and strategy in the future.

Wishpond is the email marketing tool I use on OPTIM-EYEZ to collect, engage and convert subscribers. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | LinkedIn

The primary reason I recommend Wishpond is its flexibility — it’s extremely adaptable; the API has been complexly used on my site to personalize the entire customer journey.

While ClickFunnels and Leadpages etc. have their strengths, Wishpond is more of a multi-purpose all-in-one tool that also accommodates the whole email automation side, too (something not typically included in other platforms, at the same price level).

For this reason (plus its API) it’s a very powerful piece of kit to own.

Pros: I love Wishpond for its scalability, adaptability, simple user interface and its many features — often provided separately in other platforms. I like one place, one price.

Cons: To achieve advanced automation, you definitely need a skilled web developer!

I keep things lean and mainly use 3 tools: ConvertKit, G Suite’s business email through Gmail, and Leadpages for its Leadboxes! –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Pinterest

Currently, I mainly use 3 tools for my email marketing as I like to keep my business lean and only use what would make a great difference to my business.

ConvertKit is my chosen email service provider because of how user intuitive it is – it is hard to pinpoint to you what specifically it is, but the whole thing just flows and it is extremely easy to use.

It allows me to do seemingly complex automation with much ease, re-send my broadcasts to people who have not open, add segments and tags easily, and much more – all at a very reasonable price!

I have also been using G Suite’s business email through Gmail. It has been one of the best investments for my business because it is so much easier to answer business emails through Gmail, but using my own domain’s email address!

And lastly, Leadboxes allow me to trigger a modal when someone clicks on a button, link, or image. I love it because it increases my opt-ins and prevents my site from looking very cluttered with opt-in forms. This makes a big difference as the number of posts on my blog increases.

Email outreach has been one of my most successful strategies. The biggest challenge I faced while reaching out was finding the right email address of my prospects. There are tools like Voila Norbert and Hunter, but they were pricey for the simple task of finding email addresses. I ended up building my own free tool for this purpose. It’s called Email Finder. I use this tool in conjunction with a free Chrome extension called Name2Email to identify the email address of the people I am reaching out to. Besides this, one other tool that I use a lot is SendInBlue. This is a fantastic marketing automation service that comes with a generous free tier. I have integrated their email capture form on my website to capture leads and use their automation tool to instantly share a quote with my leads.

My favorite email marketing tool is Agile CRM. Although it’s primarily a CRM, it’s also an awesome email marketing platform that can handle complex marketing automation campaigns seamlessly.

I can hear you asking me why I didn’t go with a more mainstream solution like Hubspot, Zoho or Mailchimp. Or maybe heavy hitters like Salesforce or Oracle. But Agile CRM for small business marketing automation really punches above its weight!

You can do so much more than basic email newsletters and auto responders. You can create data capture forms that feed into automated email campaigns, tag your website so that events can trigger emails to clients and you can even create campaign workflows with custom data from 3rd party sources (for example SasS products with an API). A really powerful tool for an awesome price!

I think MailChimp is the best in the market right now, as it will give you the freedom to get up to 2000 subscribers for free of cost. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter

Email marketing is a crucial step in online business, but it is very difficult for beginners to start with. I think MailChimp is the best in the market right now, as it will give you the freedom to get up to 2000 subscribers for free of cost. At the same time, you can learn various tricks to improve your email marketing techniques.

There are so many email marketing tools available these days it becomes very difficult to choose the best one. As a beginner, I would love to start with MailChimp. And after that, it is important to learn the basics of email marketing to get more subscribers. Using an email marketing tool is not enough to get subscribers, one must have to implement various techniques to grow the email list.

MailChimp – With MailChimp, one can get up to 2000 free subscriber option. This is a very good number for beginners. You can add simple pop up and add a subscribe option on your comment section also which is good enough for a free tool.

OptinMonster – OptinMonster is a vast email marketing tool which gives huge freedom to a marketer. Yes, there are so many ways you can get your subscribers but with OptinMonster you can take this to the next level. Few of the key highlights are Exit intent feature to convert ‘lost’ visitors, Well-timed and beautiful popup, page level targeting, A/B testing, welcome gate, Floating bars, scroll boxes, in-line forms and many more. You can simply replace many plug-ins and enjoy limitless features with OptinMonster. But this is a paid tool and you have to pay monthly charges to use this tool. Although you can start with their 7-day free trial account.

My favorite email marketing tools include Mailchimp, built-in Gmail features, & plug-ins like Boomerang & WiseStamp. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | LinkedIn

For personal emails, I really love Gmail features like creating custom signatures, out of office responses, and email templates so that you don’t have to keep drafting the same email over and over again. I also love that you can enable the “undo send” feature, which allows you to unsend emails for up to 30 seconds after you hit the send button.

For Gmail plugins, I like Boomerang, which allows you to schedule emails to be sent at a later time or day, or resend an email if you don’t get a response. It also has an indicator at the bottom of your email draft that says how “respondable” it is. WiseStamp is another plug-in that lets you customize email signatures with your latest tweets,  RSS feed, quotes, and more.

For email marketing, I use MailChimp. It’s an all-in-one platform that lets you use pre-built templates or create your own, build email lists, utilize easy drag-and-drop design features, and track analytics for all of your campaigns.

MailChimp is my first choice as it has all the features from basic to advance to run fruitful email marketing campaigns. In short, it’s a highly efficient email marketing automation tool.  My major goal for using email marketing tool is to reach more audience and make them aware for latest updates I have covered on my platform. I have been using MailChimp for the last couple of years to take iGeeksBlog’s popularity to the next level.

Its automation and auto-replies features help me a lot to stay connected with my audience. And to achieve my goal, I have planned email campaigns in a very strategic and well-mannered way send relevant emails based on users’ actions. Every campaign has their unique templates and those I’ve created in a few minutes with the help of inbuilt email builder.

I have divided my email campaigns into three major categories.

  1. Routine Email Campaigns with Updates.
  2. Autoresponders to a new subscriber based on their behavior at a time subscribing to our email list.
  3. Auto-Responder to acknowledge an email and priorities email filters for not to miss any important task/leads/communication.

Basically, I use MailChimp for my email stuff. The best part, it makes sure to view my email design accurate that I planned no matters if it is a tiny screen iPhone or widescreen iMac. My email looks perfect on all devices.

I use MailChimp, they offer 12k emails to 2k subscribers, plenty 3rd party integration, great start for new websites. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | LinkedIn

I use MailChimp the most, they offer a forever free set up that permits you to send 12k emails to 2k subscribers, great start especially for new websites. They integrate into just about any platform and 3rd party service, paid plans are $10 per month. I also love and highly recommend ConvertKit and Drip.

I advise to segment email subscribers from the start, the best place if you are an e-commerce is to go by purchase activity. What have they bought and what addon service or complementary products customers may be interested in.

For service pages its best to set up forms, retargeting and informational downloads on service page. Master analytics, measure everything and get into A/B CRO optimization. All of these practices, whether its email, SEO, CRO, PPC, Social Media, are all interrelated and should be thought of simultaneously. If we do our retargeting and customer segmentation correctly, we provide value to the consumer by serving the right content and products that they want to see, instead of spamming everybody with the same add and the same weekly email.

Also I’ve noticed that the delivery and open rate of email campaigns from Sendy are about 10%-15% higher than the other tools. So conversion rate is always good with this tool!

I also like MailChimp because of its intuitive drag & drop email builder, A/B testing abilities and its integrations with third-party platforms like WordPress, Magento, and Shopify.

We use both intercom and getdrip for capturing leads. It pays to get your process organized. –  Tweet this

I use a lot of different tools for email marketing – it’s a big topic after all! But the top 3 are Intercom, Getdrip, and of course, our own app which is NinjaOutreach.

Intercom and Getdrip for capturing leads and this takes care of the bulk of our marketing automation. The reason why we use both of these is that of the different features they offer. For example, we find it better to use Intercom for our app users because of the event tracking and a lot of other segmentations we can do – including tracking events in the app itself plus customer support. As for drip, after the lead passes through intercom, we send it to drip and this is the automation we use to nurture our email subscribers.

As for NinjaOutreach, it’s unlike Getdrip and Intercom and we only use this for cold emailing campaigns that we run whether to invite business leads for a demo or a simple link outreach campaign. It helps you find cold leads and reduce the time spent in setting up your outreach and followups.

HubSpot Sequences are my most powerful sales tool and allow me to do more outreach with less time. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Google Plus | LinkedIn

One of the most powerful tools I use for email marketing is HubSpot Sequences. Sequences are hybrid between email automation and manual email management. It’s the perfect blend of automation and personalization.

With sequences, I create templates for a whole sequence (hence the name of the tool) of emails and tasks that are timed to go out on specific dates and times. I can enroll a lead into one of these sequences and then customize each of the template emails. Once I have it all customized I then complete the enrollment and the entire sequence takes care of itself until they either respond, schedule a meeting, it completes on its own, or I unenroll them.

This is a great way to do outreach emails, follow-up emails, anything where you can set all the emails up beforehand and let them drip out to the customer. This is better than email automation because each email is customized for each client which means a more personal experience for them. So, I can pre-configure 3 emails, have a task for me to call, then send 2 more emails before I create another task to close out the lead.

It’s powerful and gives me the ability to track results and figure out what emails work the best. It’s a fully customized email experience that is automated after you’ve formulated each email.

Initially what you want to consider, with regards to your paid email service provider is, do they have a delivery rate of at least 98% or higher. And can you send unscheduled email message alerts, as often as you’d like to, and is their initial monthly cost within your current budget. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter

And one of your primary, long term benefits of strategic email marketing is, as you steadily obtain new subscribers, you’re able to constantly communicate with them.

As often as you’d like, fairly inexpensively, because there’s no constantly increasing postage rates to pay, and no ongoing type setting cost, like there would be with any type of direct snail mail campaign.

Plus, you can literally create your email messages in under 10 minutes, and either add them to your ongoing, -pre- written -follow- up sequence, autoresponder series.

Or make it an extremely time sensitive, unscheduled email alert, broadcast message, making your subscribers aware, of a special close out sales event, and or a special overstock inventory liquidation sales event etc.

Or a one night only webinar event etc.

So rather than continuously spend a ton of money, on outrageously expensive, traditional advertising campaigns.

Instead, you can make your subscribers aware, of some incredible, extremely time sensitive sales online training events you’re holding!

Those who ask how important is email marketing? Well, my shortest answer to them is there is no successful online business or website without an email marketing strategy. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter

There are so many benefits if you follow a proper email marketing strategy with the help of right tools.

The email marketing works on a formula (Collect > Share > Gain). Collect email ids of your readers, Share information or important knowledge with them and Gain in terms of income via affiliate marketing or traffic.

To attempt an email marketing strategy one should have an email marketing tool. There are so many tools available in the market. Two most common types of tools are email collectors and email marketing tool. For collecting emails I suggest SumoMe and Thrive Leads.

And, for email marketing I suggest my two favorite email marketing tools based on features required, spam filters, budget-friendly and of course user-friendliness.

  1. MailChimp – Most of you may know about MailChimp as it is one of the most widely used tools for email marketing. I suggest you go for it only if you just started up with your online business because their plans are perfect for starters or growing businesses. Their free plan offers amazing features such as 2,000 subscribers limit, 12,000 emails/month, ability to create email campaigns, landing pages, pop-up forms, marketing automation, A/B testing and more which are available in premium plans with other tools in the market.
  2. Constant Contact – Another email marketing tool I suggest is Constant Contact. What makes it so special? Its wide range of features you can never expect in any free email services. I always recommend it for well setup businesses who want to make more improvement with their email campaigns and conversions. Some of the highlighted features you’ll get with it; Unlimited emails, list-building tools, customizable templates with drag-and-drop editor, ability to create segmented contact list for sending right message to right reader, real-time reporting and analytics to track everything from who is opening, reading, sharing, and clicking your email—when, where, and on which device, polls and surveys, actionable pop-ups, and much more.

And the most important feature is it makes sure your email lands in the inbox and not in the spam section.

Starting with email marketing can be a daunting task although there are some super awesome tools to help you with this. Simply, choose an ESP (Email Service Provider) like Moosend and a List Building tool like SUMO. Success is just an email away!”

One of the biggest problems in email marketing is choosing the right email marketing platform. There are literally hundreds of platforms to choose from.

There are three factors that I take into account when I do my research these are the User Interface and if it is friendly and intuitive, Customer Support and Cost.

My favorite email service provider is Moosend which is UK based. They offer an awesome drag and drop email editor where you can design your newsletters effortlessly, and customer support is always at hand through email, phone, and live chat.

Their pricing plans are super affordable for only 10$/month you can send unlimited email campaigns to up 5000 unique email subscribers. If you are just starting out with email marketing I highly suggest trying them out.

Choosing an email marketing platform without having another tool to help you build your email list sounds counter-productive right? After all “The Money Is In The List”.

For list building, I suggest Sumo which is a suite of marketing tools that help you boost your website’s performance and user experience.

One of my favorite tools is List Builder 3, which is their pop up builder. Its ease of use and their range of available customization options make it one of the most desirable pop up tool out there.

Combining those marketing tools together you will be on your way to creating a highly engaged email list for your business.

For the various emails that we send to customers and prospects, MailChimp gets the job done without over-complicating set-up, testing, distribution or analytics. We particularly like “the best time to send” feature and the auto-selection of a winner after an A/B test. These are two examples of features that allow us to focus on the business at hand – making sure we create content that cuts through.

Ok, so the GetResponse is not necessarily the most “hip” option there is (it’s one of the older guys ;). Yet, it is less expensive than some of it’s competitors.

The messages are automatically mobile response as well, so you can view them fine with other devices (and not just through desktop browsers).

Finally, you get plenty of good looking templates to be used on your message, that can be then adjusted to your brand accordingly.

I strongly believe in visual content, that’s why I believe that whenever you send an e-mail you have to take good care of the visual composition. And for this you need a good design tool. Fortunately Bannersnack is taking care of this, because with their tool you can create beautiful email headers and footers.

Another e-mail tool I’m using is Hello Bar. I use it to capture e-mail on my personal website (www.robertkatai.com) and it’s easy to install, edit and it’s syncing directly with my MailChimp.

Two must-have tools for sales people using email + lead generation are (@)Nimble CRM and (@)Calendly. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | LinkedIn

Two must-have tools for sales people using email + lead generation are (@)Nimble CRM and (@)Calendly. I can use Nimble Group Messaging to send specific messages to segmented groups of contacts and leads, and in each email I’m sure to include a link to my Calendly page where people can book time directly on my schedule.

What’s the point of sending emails if you don’t get some sort of return out of them? As the sole salesperson for B Squared Media, I value the time I spend on email. Therefore, most of my emails are sales-related. Of course I want to know who opened my email and what they clicked on (data you can easily see using Nimble’s Group Messaging feature), but Nimble allows me to do a few other things that are important with sales emails:

Create a targeted list of people by segments or tags (like location, customers, leads, etc.)

See & follow-up with contacts who did not open my message

See & follow-up with contacts who clicked but did not convert/book time with me

Use templates for follow-up to save me time

Additionally, my call-to-action in every sales email is to book time with me. I do that by using Calendly. This allows the potential lead to see my calendar and book any day and time that works best for them for a phone call, and eliminates all of the back-and-forth around setting up a meeting.

When it comes to using email marketing for sales, I look for tools that save me time and make it easier to get a conversion or action on my ask.

If you’re not tech-savvy, use email marketing tools that don’t require advanced code. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Google Plus | LinkedIn

My favorite email marketing tools are those that do not require you to be an intermediate or advanced web developer or programmer. For instance, email marketing service providers such as MailChimp and Constant Contact are easy to use. Let’s explore them.

MailChimp’s dashboard lays out the following: import lists, create and email campaigns, and build your audience/list. Not only can use send emails with MailChimp, but you can email surveys as well. Speaking of lists, you can use filters to create segments. Finally, MailChimp provides you with statistics (data) that can help you tweak your email campaigns so that you can maximize your ROI.

Constant Contact has hundreds of design templates, or you may custom design your own. You have the option to include documents, images, polls, videos, social share buttons, and more into your newsletter or campaigns. You can import text and images directly into the WYSIWYG editor. Constant Contact also provides you with data so that you can create reports on your email campaigns. You can see the number of complaints, opt-outs, bounces, click-throughs, and forwards.

Another one of my favorite email marketing tools is LeadPages because you don’t have to use advanced code to create a landing page. All you do is choose your template, tweak it for your campaign, and proceed to capture leads. Incorporating LeadPages into your email marketing provider is easy!

Lastly, if you want to capture more emails, check out Privy. It’s a drag and drop designer that allows you to place pop-ups (easy integration) on your website or blog. You may also use a function such as a bar, spin to win, banners, flyouts, embedded pages, landing pages, and more. Privy also gives you campaign triggers such as a timer, scroll percentage, exit intent, and tabs.

The most important aspect of the above email marketing tools is that you do not have to be a techie to use them. Sign up for a trial period and test out these online marketing tools for yourself!

Capturing Leads – My favorite list-building tool is Thrive Leads. It includes all the different types of opt-in form:

  1. Ribbon – for displaying at the top of your screen.
  2. Lightbox – for creating popovers covering the content beneath.
  3. Widget – for any widget enabled area, like your sidebar or footer area.
  4. Post Footer – for displaying at the end of a blog post
  5. Slide-In – for sliding in from the corner.
  6. Inline Forms – for inserting opt-in forms anywhere using a simple shortcode.
  7. Screen Filler Overlay – for adding a lightbox over the entire screen.
  8. Content Lock – for revealing locked content when a visitor opts in.
  9. Scroll Mat – for opt-in forms that scroll down from the top of the page.
  10. Multiple Choice Forms – for engaging visitors with yes/no opt-in forms.

It integrates with email marketing services like Aweber, GetResponse, ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, MailChimp and many more.

It’s easy to design and deploy the opt-in forms that fit in with your site design.

It includes more advanced features like A/B Testing so you can see which opt-in form works best on your site. You can read more details here.

Sending Emails – Nowadays, there are so many email marketing services to choose from, and over the years I’ve tried and tested quite a few including Aweber, GetResponse, and MailChimp.

Currently, I’m using MailerLite as it has the features I need. Compared to MailChimp, I find it’s generally more flexible ¬–it’s easier to build automation flows, and you can manage and segment multiple lists and groups of subscribers.

Like most email marketing services, they include their own lead capture forms and landing pages. But I prefer to use Thrive Leads for my opt-in forms.

Summary – There’s no ‘one size fits all’ for email marketing tools. You need to try a few services yourself and see which feels more comfortable and fits your requirements best.

MailChimp is possibly one of the best email marketing tools. The reason it is so powerful is that it easily integrates with WordPress. Also, the penny pincher in me likes the fact that it is free up lists of 2000 and with the ability to send out 12,000 emails per month. Other benefits include the ability to organize and manage lists and has the ability to maintain subscribers and un-subscribers. Though I’m not a big fan of advertising on Facebook or Google because I can get traffic through organic SEO, MailChimp has nice integration with both ad platforms. Overall it is a very important tool in any marketer’s online toolkit.

Busy marketers need a swiss army knife email marketing solution. That means all the tools packed in and ready for action. For me that’s Zoho Mail.  Zoho Mail is part of Zoho Workplace, an integrated suite of applications. It also integrates with Zoho’s CRM and has its own powerful email app. That means that marketers can properly track response and open rates in addition to managing their calendar and contacts. So, once you’ve got a great integrated tool, it all comes back to the content you’re putting out to your mailing list. Your ROI will only be good if you’re producing great content that your opted-in audience wants to read and respond to. Email marketing in 2018 takes planning and precision. Akshay Hallur uses Thrive Leads and Landbot for email list building. And, he uses MailerLite as an autoresponder to nurture his audience. He also makes use of Zapier to let his tools integrate with each other.

  1. Thrive Leads – I use this WordPress plugin to collect the email addresses on my website thru the popups, content upgrades, and landing pages. IMHO, this is the best plugin when it comes to email lead generation for WordPress. This plugin integrates seamlessly with other tools I use like Thrive Architect, Thrive Ultimatum, and other plugins. Till now, I’ve tested dozens of plugins like OptinMonster, Ninja Popups, Icegram, but none of them even came close to Thrive Leads in terms of flexibility and features. This is a must have tool for email list building.
  2. Landbot – I use this tool to collect the emails on my website thru the chat with me widget. I have connected this tool with Zapier to add the entered email addresses to my autoresponder. This one thing is a huge conversion booster for me. It also allows me to have conversational landing pages which complete very well when compared to web forms for lead generation and survey purposes., because people love chatting whether it be with bot or human!
  3. MailerLite – I use MailerLite over services like Mailchimp due to its great deliverability, features and value for money. The integration of this tool with Zapier is also of a great to me, as I can automatically add people who took by training courses directly to my email list and nurture them differently. MailerLite integrates with the majority of webinar tools, email list building tools, and training platforms, out there. As a marketing automation lover, I find it extremely useful.

The beautiful thing about MailChimp is that, it supports startups and larger companies. For example, it offers newbies who have no budget for the monthly subscription to grow their email list up to 2000 subscribes for free.

With MailChimp, you can conveniently create and execute your email campaigns effortlessly. You can as well analyze and track your campaigns to figure out the performance of your email marketing efforts.

This email marketing tool also allows you to automatically follow up your contacts and re-engage them.

MailChimp – And Apart from Constant Contact, I use MailChimp as well, it is one of the popular tools around and can be with all the popular CMS’s, either  could be WordPress, Shopify and more. The best part is it’s absolutely free of cost for 2k subscribers. You have to get the paid subscription if you have a bigger reader base and need to send more than 12,000 emails and that’s very affordable too. It provides all the benefits like auto-responding to the emails, managing the large list and segregating them easily to send the relevant emails.

I work with a lot of startups and people trying to do a side-hustle next to their primary source of income.

As a result, they are looking for something robust, that is also friendly for their wallet. My go-to solution is still the friendly old monkey (his name is Freddie by the way) from MailChimp.

With their 2,000 subscribers, 12K emails per month, “forever free” plan it is still one of the cheapest ways to start building an email list and start communicating with your target audience. It even offers A/B testing, Marketing Automation, Abandoned Cart emails and more.

Nex to that you need, you need tools to be able to grow your lists, get people to subscribe on your website.

My favourite tools here are the ones we’re building with Inbound Rocket. Not only do these offer various ways for collecting email addresses from your site and automatically syncing them to various lists at your Email Service Provider, but it also builds up a deep understanding about who that person is so that you can deliver better-targeted emails, based on their actual needs.

I’ve worked quite a bit with ExactTarget in the past, as well as Radian6 and Salesforce, and now that they’re all on the same platform, it makes marketing automation so much easier than before. I’ve also worked with Eloqua/Oracle, Marketo, MailChimp, and Constant Contact in the past. The best email marketing tool will be the best one that the company can afford. Where Salesforce and Eloqua are enterprise-level, and make the most sense of other parts of your organization – sales, human resources, etc – are on the same platform. Marketo is in the enterprise space as well, but has fewer connections into other areas of the organization, and MailChimp and Constant Contact are for smaller to midsize companies. Generally, you want to see what resources you have available for onboarding new software, as well as what your design and development assets available for creating email marketing campaigns are. If you don’t have many resources, the tools aimed at smaller companies may be easier to use.

Our ‘Designing Strategies’ blog combines an array of WordPress, MailerLite, deep research, plugins and high quality images. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Google Plus | LinkedIn

Writing  quality content for your ideal audience is just the beginning of a successful blog.  Over eight years, our small-business focused ‘Designing Strategies’ blog has grown and matured thanks to trial and error of many blogging tools and plug in applications.  Trial and error is the best approach to finding what works best for your publication.  There are new and updated apps coming out everyday, keeping your eyes open for something new and useful is important.

With a goal of supporting small business growth and success, it was important for us to produce posts that would help small business owners.  We have been on WordPress the whole time.  It is by far the best blogging platform available.  It is not only user friendly, but has a very quick and easy learning curve.   Developers have created a wide range of plug-ins to build upon.  After a couple of trials, we settled on Yoast SEO.  It not only helps with SEO for keyword selection and meta descriptions, but has improved my writing skills.  Yoast is kind of like having your 9th grade English teacher mark up your latest reports with her bright red pen.

We recently switched our EMS (EMail Marketing Service) to MailerLite after sticking with one that seemed to require a PhD in development to use.  MailerLite is just what they say:  Lite.  Its drag and drop platform makes it easy to develop our ‘Designing Strategies’  e-Newsletters and marketing pieces.  It offers what we need to create and send out mailings, as well as handling auto-response, pop-ups and landing pages.  It’s not full of bells and whistles we’ll never use.  What it offers is ease of creating campaigns, handles our mailing list, provides reports, all at a very reasonable cost.

W3 Total Cache plugin keeps our blog performing at optimal speeds.  Efficient Related Posts plugin offers additional posts on the topic category readers are researching.  WP Most Popular gives the Blog a plug on our other website pages.  Last but not least by any means, we are using UpDraft Plus as our back up and restore application.  It is far better than the other three backup apps we have tried.  For quality images, we have been using  Pexel, Unsplash and FreeRangeStock.

A high quality blog isn’t just about writing; it’s about research, topic selection and services of value to your targeted audience.

Email marketing is boring unless you choose to make it not so. BombBomb (which is one of a few platforms doing video email marketing out there) allows you to turn a boring text email into a personalized video to your customers or leads on the go. You can send mass emails to lists that are generic or you can custom record videos so they come across as they are – one-to-one communications. This increases the chances the message will be highly relevant and thus acted upon by the recipient. Any time you can make your message more relevant to the audience, you’re going to increase conversion rates, open rates, revenue and so on. It’s really dumb that we haven’t done more of this until now.

Match Your Email Marketing Programs’s Features with your Needs – the best fit should win the sale!

In our business we have worked with a whole heap of email marketing programs ourselves and even more when working with clients – so we’ve seen the inside and out of lots of the biggest and even most obscure programs.

So with so many programs out there it’s easy to get confused…

So rather than just review one program here’s how we help make a client a decision which program to choose.

First: we work out exactly what the client needs. If all the client does is send emails, no lead generation or anything else a basic program like AWeber or MailChimp will do the job all day long.

If the client requires opt in forms, tagging systems to segregate the list, send out marketing based on actions a customer takes a more robust and advanced system is required eg. Infusionsoft.

Second: based on the needs of your business now compare what features the program has and make your buying decision based on that.

The biggest mistakes we’ve seen clients make over the years is get confused by functionality they don’t need and actually stopping them from sending the emails in the first place or paying for features and functionalities they’ll never use.

Third: Send emails, drive leads – make money!

Validator.js is a great javascript plugin for hand coded opt-in forms. –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Google Plus | LinkedIn

My newest favourite tool for email marketing is a free javascript plugin called validator.js. I recently used it on a website to build this quiz: https://dxmtechsupport.com.au/IT-health-score

One of the real frustrations with relying on HTML5 validation is that when it scrolls up to alert the user to an invalid entry, it doesn’t adjust for a sticky header, meaning that the relevant field ends up. This is an ugly and confusing behaviour; it makes using your forms much more difficult than it should be.

Validator.js solves this problem while also letting write useful alerts for your users. This means your hard-won visitors are much less likely to get frustrated with the form and leave before they opt-in to your list.

The most powerful thing you can do with email marketing is ensuring your emails are better timed and better personalised. This is more than just including the subscriber’s name. In ecommerce, there’s an astounding difference in engagement between a generic product email and an email with personalised products. Amazon realised this quickly, that’s why the emails you get from them are just the products you like. The flip side would be sending women’s summer dresses to men, in Australia, during their winter.

To avoid doing this, I highly recommend setting up segmentations based on your audience demographics and product categories, which could include sex, location, product lines, buying lifecycle. That way you can tailor your emails to a specific segment to make them more relevant.

While any decent email service provider can do this, SmartrMail does go a step further. It has a powerful AI tool for ecommerce stores that determines which products customers are most likely to buy, based on past purchase histories and behaviour on site to calculate recommendations for each subscriber. That way you’re able to ensure that they’re receiving highly personalised emails filled with products they’re most likely to convert with.

I love MailChimp for collecting and cultivating your audience, especially when you’re just getting started making a name for yourself online. Thanks to its free auto-responder sequencing tool, you can create a series of welcome emails that provide real value to your readers and deepen their engagement with your brand—then set it and forget it! Choosing from similar email tools can be helped by considering ease of use, frequency of updates and speed of the support team’s response. And don’t underestimate the importance of planning – use tools like Trello and Zapier to map out your email success strategy! –  Tweet this

Site | Twitter | Facebook | Pinterest | LinkedIn

There are loads of great email service providers out there – and many share some similar features. So it’s important to find one that works for you and is easy to use. Take a look at the ‘recently added’ section of the provider’s site – this will give you a good idea of how regularly the tools are updated. Send a question or two to the support team – this will let you know how quickly any issues will be resolved for you.

Finally, don’t forget that one of the hardest parts of email marketing is staying organised! I can’t recommend Trello highly enough for keeping track of your email campaigns, and you get bonus points if your tool can integrate with Trello via Zapier. Get organised with recording your future plans and your past results, and strategically mapping out how to use the power of email to help you grow!

We all have different channels where we work, it all depends on which one we’re trying to grow. Email can be one of them! –  Tweet this

I find it amazing how hard or tricky people assume email marketing to be. We all have tons of different channels where we work, it all depends on which we want to grow. I mean, We have accounts on facebook, youtube, Instagram, blog and so on. Now, it’s on us which one we want to grow further.

For example, if you’re trying to grow your youtube channel, you’ll promote it everywhere, from your blog to facebook and so on. Same goes for email marketing. If you want to build your list, you have to promote it everywhere.

I use a handful of tools for growing my email list. This includes WordPress plugin bloom, which is an optin creation plugin for WordPress. Next up, I use Amazon’s book creator for creating ebooks to offer a lead magnet. I also use MailChimp for automation and storing my lists. At last, I use beaver builder to create landing pages for my newsletters.

My 3 best email marketing tools are Mail Chimp – they have 2,000 emails free trial. Get Reponse – with very affordable pricing packages and SendinBlue with transactional emails. –  Tweet this

I would like to name my 3 best email marketing tools:

  1. Mail Chimp – is the first email marketing tool I started to use many years ago. One of the main advantages for me was free option if you have fewer than 2,000 subscribers. So it is very good option to small businesses. It is very easy to use even for beginners. Most of my sites are WP powered and Mail Chimp has official WP plugin so you can integrate it very easy on your site.
  2. Get Response – the main advantage of this service is its price. It not free but their price is quite affordable. Their pre-designed email templates are very nice. You can find even holiday related: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter etc. Like Mail Chimp it has integrations with many tools and CMS.
  3. SendinBlue – they are naming themselves as best transactional email service and I completely agree. Most people are not aware of SendinBlue but I tested it and was quite pleased with their features.

Most people are very happy to provide their email address when they have a chance of winning something. –  Tweet this

Site | Facebook

My favourite email lead generation tool is the good, old fashion competition to win prizes. You will not believe the number of people, who are happy provide their email address, when you run a competition, where they can win something. You can also try a variant of the same formula, which is to provide a free, useful resource, which can only be downloaded by providing details, including your email address.

Email marketing is definitely lucrative. There is no doubt that you can bring in new clients, increase sales and boost brand recognition. But email marketing can be challenging and expensive as well – especially if early attempts turn off potential customers. Learn from the pros and use their wisdom to build your own.
