“How can I find affiliates?”
“How can I find guest posting opportunities?”
“How can I find bloggers who will let me guest post on their blogs.”
“How can I find business partners?”
I read hundreds of these questions weekly on sites like the Warrior Forum and Quora.
Classic new blogger or struggling blogger mistake; folks who have little experience building a thriving online business do not realize that you do not *find* prospering opportunities.
You *earn* prospering opportunities.
Re-phrase the above questions.
“How can I earn affiliates?”
“How can I earn guest posting opportunities?”
“How can I earn bloggers who will let me to guest post on their blogs.”
“How can I earn business partners?”
Even though the wording on the prior 2 lines is rough, ya get the gist of it. You do not find guest posting opportunities, like walking around the backyard, moving rocks, to find worms or salamanders or whatever little critters you’re looking for.
You earn the right to guest post on top blogs.
You earn the right to attract affiliates to you.
You earn the right to partner with business partners.
You earn the right to be invited to appear on high profile blogs and podcasts.
Exhibit A
My friend Alonzo Pichardo asked me to do an online success chat every 2 weeks.
He has a huge, loyal following online, being a highly successful, influential 10 year veteran of the online business niche.
I felt honored he’d ask me to chat with him.
To date, in only 4 podcast episodes, we have registered nearing 170,000 plays.
I did not find the opportunity.
I earned the right and privilege to chat with an established, pro, authority online mentor by:
- spending a decade of my life learning blogging
- spending a decade of my life practicing my writing
- spending a decade of my life creating helpful content, including blog posts, videos, eBooks and courses
- spending a decade of my life building strong friendships with pros like Alonzo by generously helping them without asking for anything in return
No “finding” leads to lasting online success.
Paying your dues, learning, working, generously helping, practicing, patiently serving and giving little thought to outcomes precedes lasting online success.
Scared Newbies
I recall how scared I was as a newbie blogger. If you are scared now, I know the feeling well.
But if you let fear dominate your mind you too will fall into the “finding” lap, believing you could actually impress a guy like Alonzo by sharing your squeeze page and desperate pitch with him.
You earn the right to co-create with influential entrepreneurs by giving your life to your online craft. This is how you move up in blogging circles. This is how you pay your online tuition, helping, and not sweating outcomes. This is how to pop up on the radar screens of top entrepreneurs.
No finding.
Just earning.
But facing, feeling and releasing newbie or struggling blogger fears is the only way to go from “lazy, fear-filled finding” to “loving, generous, persistent earning”, so you can begin to lay the foundation for a successful blogging venture.
Prospering business partnerships, loyal affiliates, rabid fans, and fabulous friends are all earned through years of generous service.
You don’t stumble upon or search around for years, trying to find opportunities.
You earn ’em!
