VIENNA — Jennifer Reed, an artist and entrepreneur from Vienna, attended the “Grow With Google” workshop at the Clay Center in Charleston on July 23.
The free workshop was part of Google’s nationwide tour to teach small business owners the internet skills they need to market online, better utilize social media, and successfully grow their businesses. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., spoke briefly to the capacity crowd and encouraged attendees to maximize the tools available to them through tech companies such as Google.
Reed, who recently founded JeCreations, an online art shop that also allows her to connect with clients seeking custom art and design services, said her favorite part of the workshop was working one-on-one with Googlers through the “Grow Your Business” packet that she received.
“I’ve struggled with understanding how to make my website more visible, so the search engine optimization tools really taught me a lot about how to route the most traffic to my website. The workshop made me feel empowered, like I had more control over my business and what I want to do,” she said.
