Mark Ruffalo may not be battling Thanos at the moment, but the Avengers: Endgame star is taking on another key role in Dark Waters, a movie about an attorney who uncovers a troubling secret involving one of America’s most powerful chemical companies.
Dark Waters’ first trailer was announced on Wednesday and it teases a massive battle between a corporation and a community. Inspired by a true story, the film follows a hard-working attorney (Ruffalo), who discovers that a number of unexplainable deaths may be connected to DuPont, a chemical company located near the Ohio River.
In the trailer, Ruffalo is asked to help a local farmer, who mysteriously lost more than 100 cows and believes an environmental issue could be the culprit. By working with the farmer, he realizes that DuPont may be releasing chemicals into a small town’s water supply and harming the health of local residents.
When Ruffalo is up against DuPont and the U.S. government, he has to stand his ground and expose a potential health disaster to a system that’s rigged.
Dark Waters, which also stars Victor Garber, Anne Hathaway, and Tim Robbins, is coming to theaters November 22.
