Watch: Netflix Drops ‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Sequel Teaser

Ever since news about a Breaking Bad movie sequel came out late last year, fans have been clamoring for more details about the Netflix project, reported to expand on the story of the Jesse Pinkman, the meth cook/partner of Walter White. On Saturday, they finally got it.

After a description of the flick leaked online, Netflix released a first-look teaser for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which will be released on October 11.

Aaron Paul will return as Jesse, who was last seen in the Emmy Award-winning TV series driving off to the sunset in a stolen Chevrolet El Camino. Where did he go? No one knows.

The film will focus on Jesse after an escape from captivity at a Nazi compound. “In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future,” Netflix said in a release.

In the teaser, Skinny Pete, one of Jesse’s long-time friends, is questioned by authorities about Jesse’s whereabouts. “I don’t know where he is, don’t know where he’s headed either… north, east, west, south, Mexico, the Moon” Skinny Pete says.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie was written and directed by Vince Gilligan, who created the original series. The film is also expected to be broadcast at a later date on AMC, the cable network where the TV series was originally shown from 2008 to 2013.

On Twitter, star Aaron Paul posted about the “leaked” details.

“I guess there is a movie happening after all? Didn’t realized I could talk about it,” Paul said in the cheeky tweet.

In response to a comment, he added: “Vince absolutely crushed this thing on the page and on film. Thrilled for the world to finally see this piece of cinema history.”

In November last year, Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White, confirmed in an interview that a sequel flick was in the works.

“It’s a great story and there are a lot of people who felt that they wanted to see some kind of completion to some of these storylines that were left open [in the series finale],” Cranston said on The Dan Patrick Show. “I don’t know if there’s an appearance — flashbacks, flash forwards — but I’m excited about it because it’s Breaking Bad and it was the greatest professional period of my life.”

In June, Paul and Cranston sent fans into a tizzy when they both tweeted a possible hint about a Breaking Bad reunion.
