Who Needs Amusement Parks When There’s WordCamp Orlando?

In a world of roller coasters and Disney characters, WordPress heroes will assemble for a weekend of education, networking, and maybe just a little of fun. November 11-12, 2017, WordCamp Orlando takes place at UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management in south Orlando.

Jeffrey de Wit, Frontend Developer

Specially created with a superhero theme, this is the eighth year for WordCamp Orlando. Our very own Frontend Developer, Jeffrey de Wit, will not only be in attendance, but he’s also on the roster of organizers for the third year.

“I’m looking forward to hanging out with people I don’t get to see a whole lot and seeing talks that look interesting,” says Jeffrey. One such talk is, “Everything Louder Than Everything Else! Navigating Stakeholder Needs Through Better Discovery,” Sunday, November 12th in the Daily Planet room at 3 p.m. Presented by Dwayne McDaniel, the focus will be on delivering a better project discovery process to create happy clients and eliminate nightmarish ones.

In total, there will be 30 informational seminars, one Q&A panel, and a networking brunch. Self-taught WordPress developer, Sam Smith, is the designated keynote speaker with a presentation titled, “A Personal Story: Joining the WordPress Community.” See the full WordCamp Orlando schedule here.

Besides the cool superhero theme, another thing that makes WordCamp Orlando particularly valuable is KidsCamp, which happens on Saturday, the 11th. At KidsCamp, WordCamp Orlando parents can usher in the next generation of WordPress superheroes by attending kid-friendly lessons with their offspring. By the end of the day, KidsCamp children will leave camp with their very own WordPress.com site up and running. That’s enough to make Robin exclaim, “Holy WordPress, Batman!”

If you can’t make it out to Orlando to attend this phenomenal event, then follow the action on Twitter: @WordCampOrlando and #WCORL. WebDevStudios’ next and final WordCamp event for the year will be WordCamp US in Nashville, December 1-3, 2017. Check back on this blog to find out all the details of our planned shenanigans.
