The York County Libraries system has been chosen be part of the “Grow with Google” initiative that is being held across the state.
The free event will be held Jan. 30 and cater to job seekers and small business owners who want to improve their digital skills, according to a news release.
It will be held at Martin Library, 159 E. Market St., York, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Google staff will lead hands-on workshops about online marketing for small businesses, search engine optimization, and spreadsheet basics. Representatives will also train library staff and nonprofit leaders on a range of “Grow with Google’s” free tools and curriculum that they can use to help their patrons.
York County Libraries is the only library system that has been chosen in the midstate, according to Deb Sullivan, York County Libraries community relations director.
“Google is heading to Philadelphia, York and Erie, so Martin Library is opening its doors to folks in the midstate,” Sullivan said.
In addition to the free digital workshop, attendees can sign up for a one-on-one “Ask a Googler” coaching session, according to the release.
Pennsylvania is the first stop on “Grow with Google’s” national tour in partnership with America’s libraries, and the digital workshops will be held in all 50 states.
The York County Libraries system is comprised of 13 full-service libraries, two pick-up/drop-off locations, and a neighborhood library in York city’s Salem Square neighborhood, according to its website.
